Background

Ryan Gabel creates original visual art using paint and ink in his unique style. He wanted to create a website to showcase his art online so that prospective buyers could view his pieces, and accept credit card payments for prints. He also needed to be able to process his orders online and manage which pieces of art display on the website - without possessing a degree in computer science.

Technology

The site is built on a Wordpress back end and uses WooCommerce to track inventory and accept orders. Credit card payments are processed through Stripe. We utilized and customized a 3rd-party image slider plugin for Wordpress to create the showcase carousel on the home page. Ryan is able to log in to his admin interface and add new pieces as he creates them, and mark items as out of stock when prints are all sold out. The site is hosted on our servers here at Complete Code Solutions.

Interesting Challenges

Carousel linking

The image slider plugin provided a beautiful display for the images, but we needed each slide to be a clickable link to the WooCommerce product page for that piece - a feature that did not exist. With a little creative meta-tagging and some from-scratch JavaScript we were able to link the two packages together and provide a seamless experience for visitors.
